Winter Lights Social Media / Photography

When first being given my role of 'posting to social media' and 'photographer' the first thing which I needed to do was contact any lectures of Dance, Music and Drama. This was to ask them how I could get posts onto their social media sights and if the students had permission for their photos to be taken.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

From this email I got mixed responses of how long people would need to be able to post anything on their FaceBook websites.

From these emails I then had a rough guide of when each subject could post things to their pages. However I wasn't sure how to get posts on the Cornwall College FaceBook, so I contacted Amanda Wood and she pointed me in the direction of staff working for the Marketing and PR  of the college.

I contacted then contacted Beth Andrew:

And she replied:

This meant that I then needed to create a social media plan and work with Paul to decided on dates for the teaser and promo video to be released and also use my photographer role to take pictures to be included. 

Once my social media plan was completed I decided to contact the Dance, Drama and Music lectures to see if they would prefer the plan or just emails in advance. Drama and Music accepted the offer so I created separate plans for them and I took into consideration that the Drama lecturer doesn't work on Mondays and Fridays so for her to be able to post things on the days that she is in. 

When everyone had the social media plans I wanted to extended my role even further so I thought I would create Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages just to advertise the Winter Lights. I decided to post the same as which is on the social media plan to these sights and adding more posts as I can access it a lot easier. I put the page decriptions as:

"Introducing the official Winter Lights 2015 page. Dance, Music and Drama showcase for one night only on the 10th of December. Follow here to keep updated."

We have a budget for this project so I emailed Beth asking if I could use some of this money to boost posts and how I would go about doing it. The emails are as followed:

As this means we still have money left over due to marketing using some of their left over budget to boost the posts, I have decided I would like to promote the Winter Lights FaceBook page which I created. This means it will be promoted to people who are in close ares which I have added into the location box estimating that the page will get 4-14 likes per day for 7 days.

Another way which I thought I could promote the Winter Lights was by getting an advertisment onto the Cornwall College Notice Board so I had to find out who to email to make it possible.

I contacted Zoe with the winter lights poster which Ellis (the grpahic designer) created. She then scaled the size of the picture down and made it look suitable to be put onto the notice screen by Stephan.

Once the teaser and the promo videos had been created I posted those to my social media pages and emailed the other lecturers to have it posted to their sights as well.

I also decided to pin a post to the top of the Facebook page which means there is always the same post at the top and I decided to do the post with the most information about the Winter Lights.
